Tenerife

Tenerife is the largest island of the archipelago. The landscapes here are very varied including a mountain range with the mighty volcanic crater Caņadas del Teide, with a diameter of 20 kilometers, and the 3.718 meters high Teide in its centre; extremely fertile valleys with important crops of bananas and tomatoes; and a coastline offering both beautiful steep cliffs as well as long, fine, sandy beaches.

The towns of Tenerife include the island's capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the centre of international tourism, Puerto de la Cruz.  Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a very friendly town with 211,930 inhabitants.  It's lively streets and beautiful parks such as Park Garcia Sanabria, immediately attract attention.  The picturesque port, which is surrounded by high rocks, is the town's real centre.  The picturesque Puerto de la Cruz is a very popular tourist destination, due to its year round climate.

Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos are among the islands greatest and best known beaches.  Playa de las Americas is located on the south east side of the island and offers fabulous sandy beaches as well as the most modern infrastructure for tourism.  Playa de los Cristianos offers fine beaches of golden sand and crystalline water and is close to a picturesque fishing village.  Its outstanding infrastructure makes it one of the most attractive place for visitors. For a little more exclusivity we recommend Playa del Duque which is a smaller golden sandy beach in the Costa Adeje/Del Duque area. Stay in our Altamira apartments to enjoy this beach and the surrounding restaurants.

The National Park 'El Teide' contains an incredible landscape of volcanos, showing unusual forms of life.  Christopher Columbus observed the last great eruption in 1492 from the nearby island of Gomera, just before continuing his discovery travel to America.  In 1798 there was another small eruption.  With a height of 3,718 metres the Teide is not only the highest mountain in Spain, but also the highest elevation in the whole of the Atlantic Ocean.  A cableway takes visitors up to 3,600 metres.  From there you can climb to the peak by foot.  On clear days there is a fantastic view.
