Two bedroom Languedoc holiday villa

Villa Alliston is a beautiful house in a typical French village situated in the Languedoc area near the magnificent walled city of Carcassonne in the South of France.

The entire house is more than 200 years old and fully renovated with original exposed beams and rafters. The huge open plan living room is wood floored and has a wood burning stove for winter use. There are 4 sofas together with desk, various tables, bookcases etc, colour TV/video and radio/CD player.

Bedroom 1 has a double bed and cot if required.

Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds and an extra single pull out if needed.

3rd sleeping area containing a single bed on the large upstairs landing that can be screened off with drapes for privacy. There is also an additional double sofa bed in the living room.

Bathroom Bath, WC, basin and fully tiled shower cubicle.

The kitchen, which is the same size as the living room, is downstairs and opens out onto the terrace and long garden with sun beds, table, chairs, BBQ and plunge pool. The kitchen itself has a fridge/freezer, gas cooker, microwave and washing machine, along with all other necessities one needs. The dining table seats 6 easily and there is a cottage suite to relax in after dinner.

A lockable garage directly opposite the house is ideal if you are travelling with bikes or fishing equipment etc.

Relaxing

You are truly spoilt for choice whether young or old. There is also the option of just relaxing on the terrace with a good book and a glass of local wine. When you get too hot you can cool off in the plunge pool.

Location

Close to Castelnaudary, Villasavary is a typical French village with historic associations back to Roman times. The view from the large terrace and garden is truly stunning across the whole valley [see main picture] Castelnaudary has a great market every Monday and is full of stalls, shops, bars and restaurants. You can stroll the towpaths of the Canal du Midi from there and even take a canal trip. 

Villasavary is situated between Carcassonne and Castelnaudary (25 minutes from Carcassonne and 20 minutes from Castelnaudary).

Eating & Drinking

There are many good local restaurants with inexpensive food and fine wines. A new bar/restaurant just a few minutes leisurely stroll from the house.

Sightseeing

With such a good geographical location, Villasavary is a perfect base for touring the region, with Carcassonne and it's magical walled city just 30 minutes drive away. Toulouse is approx 45 minutes and Andorra (duty free) approx 2 hours. The Canal du Midi is well worth exploring as are the historic Cathar castles. The area is excellent for climbing, walking, fishing, cycling, sailing and visiting vineyards.

Beach

You can visit the Mediterranean beaches of Narbonne in our hour and the coastal borders with Spain are a little under 2 hours.

Golf

There is a wonderful golf course at Carcassonne, so why not have a golfing holiday! 

Skiing

During the winter months you are just over an hour from Mont d'Olmes ski resort.

Facilities

Prices are inclusive of bedding, towels (not beach towels) electricity and logs for the fire in winter months.  Please note that the Christmas and New Year period will be the same price as for September - October.

There are cheap flights available to Carcassonne, which is the nearest airport.  Toulouse airport is only 40 minutes away.

Disabled

The houses is split over 3 levels and would not be suitable for the disabled, or the elderly who have difficulty with stairs.

Changeover Day: Changeover day is flexible.  Where holidays fall over 2 different rental bands, the price is worked out on a pro rata basis.
