Improved and upgraded to a high standard using traditional materials and natural floorings. Brambles is a small mid terraced cottage constructed around 1840 in the line of a previous footway between two earlier cottages. Bridge Street is within the Town Centre Conservation Area and was previously the trading street for the early town. The lounge features a sofa and 2 armchairs. The hand painted kitchen has a natural slate floor and includes stainless steel cooking appliances (with integral extractor fan above), fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and automatic washer/dryer. Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms with double beds, both are cosy and have natural wool carpets, bedside lighting, clock/radio and traditional furniture. There is a shower room with WC and hand basin. All modern amenities include full central heating. The overall feeling is of a cosy, comfortable retreat, ideal for two and fine for four. The town centre provides traditional market town facilities with cafe, organic food shop, delicatessen, locally stocked butchers, hardware shop, wine store, clothes shops and other retailers. The town also has a specialist outdoor pursuits shop and an organic produce market is held on Saturday mornings in the town hall vaults fronting the square. The town also has a traditional fish and chip shop and an Indian take away. 'The Bear Hotel' in the centre of Crickhowell is renowned. It is the old coaching inn for the area and offers such high quality food, wines and beer that it received the prestigious award of ‘Best Pub in Britain 2000’. There are at least six other pubs within walking distance of the cottage. There is great walking locally and the historic market towns of Hay- on-Wye (International Book Town, but also great for antiques and markets), Brecon and Abergavenny are all within a short drive. The cottage is within 100m of the banks of the River Usk which has a large open area of park land with picnic benches, and footpaths. The cottage is within 10 minutes walk of the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal which provides a comfortable walk eastwards to Abergavenny and west to Llangynidr and Brecon. Activities locally available include climbing, mountain biking, walking, canoeing, riding, boat trips, fishing and pony trekking. Changeover day for this cottage is Friday. Guests can arrive from 4pm on their day of arrival and must depart by 11am on their day of departure. Pets: No Prices
