This three bedroom listed cottage is situated in the heart of the Eden Valley in the small village of Long Marton, approximately 2 miles from the town of Appleby (click for More Photos). It's position between the Lakes & Dales is a peaceful, less frequented haven enjoyed by cyclists, ramblers or those seeking peace and tranquillity, although only a short distance from the market town of Penrith (10 miles). Few settings can equal the beauty of this area, where there is a wealth of exciting sports or rural pursuits. You can sail on the dramatic lakes of the Lake District (Ullswater and Derwent Water are the nearest), climb on high mountain paths or ramble over meandering rivers. There are also other sporting activities available such as pony trekking or canoeing. Cultural events include music festivals, live theatre, country fairs and shows or take time to discover Eden's fascinating history.
The village was once known as Merton, and was owned by a single family, the Veteriponts, in the 1200s. Eventually Henry VIII took possession of it. Other attractions include a golf course at Kirby Stephen (10 miles) and a swimming pool at Appleby. Pets: Yes Prices
