Studio Tenerife cottage

This charming country house is situated close to the sea on a finca, surrounded by banana plantations.  It is just 4 minutes by car from Garachico in the north of Tenerife, which is a small coastal town.  For golfers, this house is also ideal as it is just 7 minutes drive from the new golf course at Buenavista.  Several of the greens border the ocean's edge, which makes for a dream game and a truly impressive backdrop.  The 18 hold, par 72 course also boasts a clubhouse with terraces that have panoramic views over the course out to the ocean.  You can enjoy a cool drink and a bite to eat here in the bar and restaurant.  

Garachico

Garachico used to be the capital of Tenerife in the 16th century and was the island's most important port and trade centre, especially for wine.  This changed in 1706 when lava poured down into the harbour, making it useless to large scale shipping.  As a result of this the inhabitants had to fall back on making a living from fishing and farming.  This is why today it where you can find some of the island's best fish.  The town is therefore very interesting.  It has a selection of ancient landmarks including Castillo de San Miguel, which has a fantastic view of the ocean from the castle ramparts.  Another attraction worth a visit is the natural rock pools behind the castle, which are replenished by the sea and are great for swimming at low tide.  It is also worth visiting the churches of Santa Ana, Domingo and Our Lady of the Angels.  The popular "romerias" (country feasts) of San Roque, which take place in August,  have been declared of national tourist interest.  Garachico is also well known as a craft centre.

Accommodation

The cottage consists of an open plan bedroom/living area, a bathroom, simple kitchen with hob and fridge, patio with garden furniture and views to the mountain.

Linen and towels are provided free of charge.  A cot can be provided if requested.

Recommended local restaurants include Casa Gaspar, Restaurante La Perla and Pizzeria San Miguel.

A car is recommended.  Local sports are less than 30km from the house include walking, trekking, swimming and cycling.

Prices for 2005

The booking deposit for this property is 50% of the weekly rental, unless the booking is made less than 8 weeks before the start of the holiday, in which case the full booking fee is payable at the time of the booking.
